Editorial policy and disclosures

This page explains how I decide the kind of content that gets published on Senses of Spain and how some of it is monetised.

The purpose of this website is to provide independent, carefully researched information that helps travellers to explore Spain in a conscious and informed way. My north star is always: would this article have helped me when I was planning a trip? I aim to provide guides that are useful, practical - and enjoyable!

Affiliate links and commissions

Some pages on this website include affiliate links to third-party websites such as travel and accommodation providers. If you click on these links and then buy something, I may earn a small commission - at no extra cost to you.

I only link to products and services that I have personally experienced and recommend.

Collaborations and sponsored content

The vast majority of the travel I do and the content I create is self-funded. However, from time to time, I accept press trips or hosted collaborations with destination marketing organisations (DMOs) and companies in the travel industry such as airlines, train operators, and accommodation providers.

I have three rules for such collaborations:

  1.  I only accept paid or gifted collaborations that I believe will result in useful and relevant content for my audience.

  2. I clearly disclose when content was created as part of a paid or gifted collaboration.

  3. I don’t accept collaborations with properties that are listed on short-term rental platforms such as Airbnb, unless the owner lives in the property on a full-time or part-time basis. This is to avoid contributing to the problems caused by housing shortages in popular tourist destinations across Spain.

Food and beverage content

Outside of press trips, I don’t accept invitations to dine for free in restaurants - I prefer to pay my way and create obligation-free content.
