Explore Spain with me
Hola! I’m Amy Macpherson, a London-based content creator, writer and videographer. I lived in Spain from 2020 to 2025, travelling extensively during that time, and I still visit the country frequently.
Senses of Spain is a multi-channel digital media project focused on cultural tourism, history, gastronomy and thoughtful slow travel. What began as a creative outlet during Madrid's pandemic lockdown has grown into a community of more than 170,000 followers across my social media channels.
Storytelling across platforms
From viral TikToks to long-form written features, I love finding engaging and creative ways to tell Spain's stories.
Some of my most-viewed short-form videos include a peek at Madrid’s ghost station, a love letter to Granada at night, a visit to a medieval fair in an Andalusian castle and a mini-documentary about the fiesta of La Virgen del Carmen in Málaga.
I create informative travel content designed to help readers and viewers get the most out of their time in Spain, from voiceover-led guides to visiting the Alhambra to articles on planning a visit to Medina Azahara and guides to unique places to stay.
I also enjoy getting my teeth into longer-form features that uncover the stories behind the places we visit, such as this interview with Michael Haussman, director of Madonna's Take a Bow video, about filming in Ronda.
More about me
I've worked extensively as a writer and multimedia producer in the culture and heritage sector, including 12 years in the digital content team at London's Royal Academy of Arts.
Projects there included researching, scripting and editing many of the viral videos in the Artists in 60 Seconds series (including episodes on Salvador Dalí and Henri Matisse), creating explainer videos on artistic techniques, and co-producing the pioneering audience participation livestream Life Drawing: Live. I continue to undertake freelance video projects for museums and cultural institutions, including work for the Joana Vasconcelos exhibition at Malta International Contemporary Art Space.
I've also worked as a travel journalist, including two years in-house at TNT Magazine, the long-running London-based travel and lifestyle publication for backpackers and working holidaymakers. During this time, I covered destinations and experiences ranging from tiger safaris in Rajasthan to Dracula tourism in Transylvania and the summer solstice at Stonehenge.
